Went to look at a baxi bermuda c5 that has a faulty ignition on the fire, and noticed a gap of about an inch above the fire.(between wall finish & fire)
Using a torch you can see right in to where the flue liner attaches to top of back boiler.
Would you call this ar or id ? - or as the fire spigot fits into the back boiler & all seems to be working ok, have I got it wrong and it's not a cause for concern ?

thanks

If the gap is all the way around it, there may have been a surround behind it at some point that has been removed. If it sitting on a hearth and the gap is only at the top it has probably been pulled forward (not been fixed back)

As long as the fire bracket is firmly attached to the wall it is not at risk, but it could be if stuff could fall down the gap! If it isn't fixed then it is ar.

It would be quicker to fix it than it would be to write out the paperwork.

If there is a gap above the fire,(It could have been fire surround removed as said)when fire front still fitted and boiler operating correctly ,I would personally class at least as 'at risk',taking into account visible flue liner, hard to say without seeing, other points may be present, would always air on the side of caution and maybe up grade to 'id' if other faults found but as Tamz say 9/10 it is often easier to explain and correct installation than do all the paperwork if possible to do straight away

If it was in one of the rented properties I look after and I could not sort out straight away,I would not leave working

imho

Thanks for the replies - I'll try and get some photos sorted

With some baxi's if you look in through the side grills you can see the liner, but i know what you mean🙂

On the bottom of the boiler chasis which the gas fire sits on, there are two notch marks, if the fire is stting within these, then the fire spigot is probably in the boiler flue by the correct distance. Would not feel happy about the gap though. Could be AR, would'nt want to guess unless I saw it.

any of the fires with the grills on the side allow you to see the flue liner probably the only time you should see it
nice to see some common sense on this part of the forum.as said most of the time its as easy to fix the problem get paid and out the doo some people forget thats what were here for,All the form filling is secondary if you can make it safe imediatly
