Hi guys, bear with me as I'm a total newbie when it comes to breakdown.

Got called to a job where the above mentioned boiler was giving the custard some issues. It fires fine in a morning and runs for around an hour on average. The boiler then knocks off, I presume the overheat stat is doing its job, then it won't come back on.

The room stat is still calling for heat and yet the boiler won't come fire, he tells me if he fiddles with the temp stat on the boiler sometimes it fires back up.

The boiler had a new fan about 6 months ago I believe and he had a new radiator added to the system about 2 months ago.

My first instinct makes me wonder if it could be the heating system itself, the pump is already set to 3.

i checked and every radiator has a TRV so I've took the head off one in case they where all locking down and leaving the pump without a bypass. Although I think this is unlikely to be the cause as I know the radiator in the conservatory is undersized.

So I'm just after some advice from some more knowledgeable heating engineers than myself.

cheers guys

We can't give any specific boiler advice mate, unless you are GS registered.
Is there a piped bypass on the system?

I am GS registered mate. I've requested it to be added to my profile a few months ago but it still hasn't been added.

Couldnt see a piped bypass but surely that wouldn't make a difference if at least one of the rads never shut down

A lot depends on flowrates, if most of the system is in microbore and sludged up then circulation might not be enough to keep it from going out on Lockout 😉

ALL of the system is in 22 reduced to 15mm for rads another point I noticed as was thinking a restriction to flow would also cause overheating

Should be ok flow wise unless it's totally sludged.
I presume it heats ok? all radiators nice and toasty?
