couldnt agree with you more mate just think certon things should be kept in house.i,ll quite happly give advice out only thing i would say is if you starting telling bits, then they think they can do the bigger stuff and you end up with no house like the old couple afew months ago in the gas mag cos plumber thought he could fix a leak on a stopcock took the meter out never caped the pipe and boom also we have to pay our yearly fee and acs to gain the knowledge and make our mistakes others dont if ye get my point i just try to go by the rules to cover myself and people closest to me not a do gooder or gas safe police ,lol just wana sleep at night

Gentleman,

Everything has been sorted, the problem was the PCB not earth faults or no guesses of factory settings n etc.. I've been working with Gas safe blokes for a quite some time and to tell the truth some of them are absolutely clueless, thats when i begin to think, how on earth are you qualified for this??

I worked on a gravity feed system once, it was really dated, the CW tank looked like somebody fired Rust gunshots at it. I Didn't touch the boiler at this premises..
So anyway, my mate at the time was away on holiday and the owner at the time was adament to have a Safety check certificate issued, so i called up a block from the Gas safe register webpage who was local to my customers home.

This bloke turned up at the doorstep and said "Sorry but this is a really old system, and i don't wanna check this because it might start giving problems after i done my test"

I couldnt believe what i was hearing at this point, and the funny thing it wasn't even a back boiler it was a wall hung 80's potterton boiler, which was serviced every 18months with stickers of proof.

So just to let you guys know, you can't compare every non registered bloke like myself on to be deemed as a threat or danger, I know what i'm doing and i know my limits. But those who don't, i agree they become unfortunate.

not saying anything about you hary j, just having a general chat about people touchin boilers who are not gas safe cos in the real world people do ,just at its against the law to touch one, not that anything gets done when they do,by the sounds of it you have worked with people who are gas safe or been corgi ,but there are people who have never touched gas or plumbing but think they can and the saying goes "a little knowledge can be dangerous"
