black water

had a call to go out to a customer dont know the details but they are complaining of black water coming from taps just wondered what could be causing that, got some ideas but not sure

Split coil?

Could be a washer or hose disintegrating or possible some work going on out in the street. If it's the hot taps it could be cross contamination from a split coil in the cylinder.

if its a split coil i assume its a new cylinder whats the best way to check if its the coil

thanks steve il check all washers etc, there definately any work going on outside so its either warn washers or coil

chech for old iron pipe work aswell if its hot water supply

Never come across it personaly but I would assume the best way to check would be to stick a hose on the cylinder and drain down partialy to check water colour

Check if the cylinder has an annode, it might need a replacement.
