Fair enough. I could possibly use this with my thermal imaging camera, which woudl be able to detect the temp change. Thanks.Can’t you do the old simple thing of waiting until cool then run / turn on that zone and see which end gets hot first ?

Thanks.If you decide to rent an ultrasonic flow meter (ca £250 for a week) check that its minimum flow rate (typically 0.1 m/s – 0.2 m/s) is low enough for you to be able to see what you need. The flow-speed in heating pipes can be quite low. e.g. 0.1 m/s in a 1inch ID pipe is about 3 litre / min.
