told a customer with several holiday lets that he needed to replace his boiler last year as it was getting past it and he wants reliability. Naw he went we will see how it goes.
So 4 weeks back at 8 on a saturday night I got a call boilers stopped working and immersion wont work. So off I went, reset the immersion stat and turned it down to a sensible level, then unsiezed the fan and oiled it to get it going. Went back on the tuesday and replaced the fan, immersion still working ok.
2 weeks later on a Monday night another call to same boiler, broken again and immersion not working, But as I had had a few bevvies I couldnt go and look, knew it wasnt the fan so pointed out it was going to be the pcb or gas valve neither of which I had in the van. So arrived tues am along with a sparky who had tested the immersion and it was fine, someone had again turned up the stat to max and it had popped the safety. I diagnosed a duff gas valve and ordered one and put it in the next day.
I know I am not cheap, so wasnt overly surprised to get an email tonight saying he is getting the boiler replaced and using a 24/7nrepair contract from now on as I dont seem to be able to cope. My response was a pleasant good luck to you, I doubt if you will get better cover than that I provided you with over the last 6 years, ps dont call me for leaky taps on a bank holiday in Crode during ocean fest again please. & miles away, 3 hours to get there and 31/2 to get back home again, didnt charge him for the road time out of some misguided loyalty!!!!!!!!!
Bet I get a call soon asking if I can fix one of his boilers, when I do I will either charge the earth or tell him to stick it.
