Can't unscrew kitchen tap-water valve in order to replace it...

Hey guys,
I have a one-exit water valve under the sink leading to the cold tap above. I'd like to replace it with a multi-exit valve so that I can connect the dishwasher to the main water-line. Fine, I thought. I've got myself a multi-exit valve and just need to remove the old one.
This is where I came unstuck. The thing just doesn't want to unscrew.
I have used a wrench and pliers on it and it just won't go anywhere. I assume that I just need to turn it anticlockwise.
It isn't made easier by the fact that there aren't many good points to get a grip on the thing...
I have applied WD40 about 30 mins ago and that hasn't made much difference.

Is there something I am missing? Do I need to loosen something else before it will unscrew? It doesn't look especially old, i.e. that it could have rusted inside.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I'm not familiar with that type of valve, don't really see valves like that in the UK, but if it's difficult to replace, can you not just add a splitter to give you an extra feed.
Something like the below?

I'm going anticlockwise - it moves about an eighth of a turn and then won't go any further.

it looks like they have used a jointing compound on the threads that sets so you either need to be strong or apply heat to the base to soften the compound.

Oh right! You mean the pink rubber-band-looking thing? How hot does it need to get? Would a hairdryer do the trick, do you reckon?

I doubt a hairdryer would get hot enough, usually a blowtorch.

Ah... turns out that my local building merchant sold an adapter/splitter that screwed onto this, so I can just leave it in place! Thank god...
But many thanks for your help, guys! Let me know if you ever need anything translating into German/Chinese lol
