Hi all,

I'm relatively new to self employment and have only just opened my first trade account.

Basically I've got a shed load of flushing and a fair bit of installation work coming up and I'm trying to source Magnacleans cheaper than the £104inc VAT I currently pay on account. I was thinking about using an online retailer instead and saving £15+ a go.

Do I get better terms, and discounts once I've had a trade account open for a bit longer?

Newb questions :mad2:

Many thanks

As a one man band you can negotiate discounts to a certain degree. Your better off with a good local independant merchant tbh, they will normally give most of there customers the same good trade prices. You will only get what the merchant is willing to and can give you.

With some merchants the more your buy the better you can negotiate of course, but you will need to be buying larger quantitys of items to get what big companies can demand. So if you get a contract which will require multiple numbers of materials then you can discuss better terms with merchants and manufactures sometimes (rebates).

The internet is a good source for comparing prices and can be cheaper, but you do need to remember that part of the reason its cheaper is there is no store and no personal interaction. So there is no real relationship built and more importantly no quick fix if the order is wrong, damaged etc......

one thing to consider is show the merchant you use the price you have found the item for elsewere, if they can match it and still make a profit they should be willing to deal, they do have to pay the bills tho.

Or magnaboosters - all brass and never had one leak

Have installed loads of Magnaboosters and service them every day (I'm a full time service and repair contractor for Bg) but never had much confidence in them. Easy to install and don't leak but nowhere near as much carp comes out of a mb compared to a m/clean

The spiroteks british gas fit were upgraded last year as found not to work that well they now have an external magnet mate.

Ah haa! I did not know this! Another reason why I'd like to stick with magnacleans would be because I use a magnacleanse

Looked at a spirotrap the other day when replacing boiler, didn't get any thing out to speak off though valve, whilst I had it off a popped some water in and gave it a shake which remove quite a bit of debris.

magnacleans just leak, anything is better imho. best way to get a decent discount is to use an independant merchant and ALWAYS pay you account on time or earlier, then the merchant will bend over backwards to help you. Pay late and youll pay more. Its business and cash flow is king.

Actually centramag is better for magnacleanse cos you have to use speedfit tap connectors on the new magna pro 2.

Btw magnacleans should be about 70 + vat

price is key , eventually magnacleans will have to come down in price . Competition is fears out there !!!
Other products are doing a better job at a cheaper price.
New magnaclean pro 2 inline filter does not have the spiral action as the water enters in the middle of the filter ,so water hits the centre and goes in different directions
