I have the dual flush cistern. I have read all the comments about taking off the cistern lid. we have popped the buttons off, but there is no screw to undo and the silver base doesn't turn clockwise or anti-clockwise! any other suggestions greatly received! I think it may have been a Homebase loo if that helps?

What's that white circle? Looks like a flat screw.
Does the lid move at all? Sometimes the lid lifts enough to get your hand in and release a clip.

not sure, it seems to be flat and not an obvious screw or anything. It goes down when you push the loo to flush. We have tried to pull up the lid when it is pressed down and that doesn't help. The lid doesn't seem to lift that high for you to get a hand in to release a clip. A bit of a nightmare really. Any other thoughts? thanks loads

it seems to unscrew a bit, but now stuck - any advice to how to unstick it? reason I want to get it off is because it isn't refilling properly and need to check out whats going on inside, so don't really want to rip it off!

thanks

That's a screw in the middle. It look as though it hasn't been alligned correctly at one time or other. try to unscrew it from there.

Yeah Steve, but he didn't say how he got it off, hence the folks wanting to know the details....and my effort at humour.

I worked with / was trained by a plumber who would make one or two reasonable attempts to make inanimate objects co-operate but if they didn't he would produce a hammer and utter his catchphrase "bashy bashy."
