Despite BG covering my boiler with Homecare for years, they have just decided that the external flue is now not sufficient - quoting new Regulations - and they won't cover my boiler any more!
The flue has a large square opening (as shown) and is around 200mm deep. Can anyone recommend how to seal it so that meets the new Regs? BTW what Regs apply?
I was thinking of packing it with mineral wool and putting a cover plate around the flue?
Any comments much appreciated.

Had cover for several years, cancelled because of the price! Took out new cover again in August but failed first inspection apparently.
External picture attached.
Thanks

Thanks for all the replies.
Harvest Fields - so if I brick up the hole to say half the depth of the wall, leaving the flue joint clear, that should be OK?
Can anyone tell me exactly what Regulation refers to this?
Thanks

A phone call to the manufacturer will point you in right direction . Just been through this tbh with a customer.

I cannot see the flue inside the wall properly. Is there a joint in there?
If not, brick up the inside.
How high is the terminal outside? It may need a flue terminal guard.

The only joint is the one you can see in the first photo, i.e. between the 90 degree bend and the straight flue that goes outside.

2 extra things.
1 - how long is your flue from top of boiler to terminal outside
2- looks like a short flue extension

I can't measure exactly (since I am not at home) but it is a 1930s solid wall which must around 250mm thick (one brick plus plaster and render). As shown in the first photo, the boiler is attached directly to the external wall.
