Condemned Immersion heater fitted by cowboy! how do i report him?

Pound to a peenny it just the thermostat which has failed. These things happen so it wouldn't be the original installers fault after everything has been ok for 2 years so IMO your plumber is just playing on your fears. Does he know your a sparky?
If it's a vented direct cylinder / combi cylinder it's doing exactly what it should do as thats what overflows are for.

Probably a faulty ball valve, people love slagging plumbers off. Every plumbers the best when thing go well and a cowboy when things fail, regardless of who's fault it is.

A lot of people call a cylinder an immersion IMO and what is wrong with an unvented E7 cylinder?

It's so easy to condemn plumbers, even good ones. We all make mistakes and we all have "difficult" customers.

To my mind, if something like this has lasted two years, not killed anyone and not been a danger then I get an angry phone call, I'd be tempted to leave it ringing to be honest. (Not saying I would leave the phone, but the temptation is there in these situations.)

Still there, stripped out vented e7 cylinder, new unvented e7 cylinder in loft, strip out airing cupboard,brand new shower where airing cupboard was and redo all bathroom. The only down side was they supplied all the materials right the way down to the tile spacers.
