On the other hand, people call during the day to book stuff in. I don't carry a diary, and if I did I wouldn't drop a hand full of spanner sand run to thee can!

Yeah its called voicemail, if its urgent they will leave a message then I get a choice whether to ring them back or not.

In this circumstance I would of said, "I will pop round tonight, £150 per hour" they usually reply with "its not urgent" so I say, "shall I book you in for next week then?"

No stress, no lost customer, everyone's happy.

The problem I find is that the majority of the complaints are about customers calling at all hours, yet most people complaining are helping people on this forum for free until late at night!!

you dont seem to get the fact that I am moaning about the fact that goods manners have gone out the window, in the fact that people no longer consider it an intrusion to call at all hours, the latest or earliest was 1am once to let me know they couldnt work the new boiler I installed a year previously!!

I find the least stressful method to lose that type of customer, I prefer working for polite folks with a bit of consideration in their dealings with tradesmen.

If its a genuine emergency, not an issue off I go, at a rate according to the hour.

re this forum and helping folks, its a method of winding down for me, nothing to do with idiot customers, so not really relevant.
