I have a semi detached house and me and my neighbour share the soil pipe outside, the council are doing some work on her house and left the soil pipe about 3 feet from the ground, subsequently it has over flowed - not very happy ! I have had a 'discussion' with a council person. I remember some where in regs that the top of the soil pipe must be at least 3 meters from any opening window and told him this - he said i was mistaken, i'm sure i'm not can anyone tell me if i'm right and what reg number it is and stuff so i can phone back tomo and stick it up his jumper many thanks russblade

Hi Russblade
If the soil vent pipe is WITHIN 3 metres of say a window it has to terminate 900mm above opening.
Building reg H if I remember.
