Went to drain down a vacant house yesterday.

Toxic gave me some advice on a problem so thx for that.

Cwsc in loft, stopcock half way up wall, no doc. Turned water off & ran taps, shower, flushed toilet etc. All ok. Checked in loft, no issues.

Ch - doc on rad in hall, connected up, all valves open, starts draining, vents upstairs open, all lovely then nothing, vents downstairs spouting water when open.

See another doc under boiler, good news, connect up, open & flow starts then nothing, ds rads still full, crack a nut, loads of water.

All the rads ds had like a nut on bottom of lock shield side valve but it was a case of take the nut off & connect hose quick. Had to do rad by rad ds. Pic of nut.

Anyone got any comments of if there was an easier way to go ds rads? I could've sucked water out with vac I know.

Cheers

Thx Shaun. I've never seen these little nuts before on a valve. The house is in need of a refurb as probate so I'm guessing at least 70's with the kitchen 60's!

All experience

Turn both valves off to rad, open air vent to relieve pressure, replace air vent, remove nut from drain point (wont get much water spill if air vent is shut) fit hose and open valves on rad
