i've been to look at a 3 bed property today where it has no gas to it. the hot water is run from a small immersion heater with header tank (looks like prob fitted in 70's) and all rads are electric space heaters. the customer wants new shower fitting as she is going to be renting it out, however the shower would have to be fitted at other end of bath due to taps being under the window. i could turn bath round but she just wants a quick fix due to budget. the bathroom is tiny (2.2m x 1.3m) and that is where cylinder and tank are located in a cupboard.
she has also asked me to look into modernising the hot water system. i've looked at a 75 litre water storage heater (vented) from redring, but i'm a bit unsure about electric water heaters of that size as i've never installed them before. there will be possibly 3 or 4 people using the property and it is only for hot water purposes only .. bath, shower etc.
would that heater be about right for whats required?

i don't do electrics but get someone in to do it for me, so due to customers budget i was thinking of mixer shower piped from bath pipework and save on electricians bill.
what advice have you regarding the heater?

Its too small.

Andrews recommend a minumum of 115 litres of stored water, and then 45 litres per capita, so for 3 - 4 people, you should be looking at about twice the 75 litre mentioned, or preferably a bit more.

I would go for an electric shower and bathscreen.
Keep the stored hot water as is for the bath + kitchen

They cant complain if they have instant hot water for showering.

no matter what electric storage heater you out in on a budget they will run the store down and complain to no end imho

cheers for the feedback lads, will go towards elec shower, just hope my sparkys price doesn't scare her off 🙂.
as i don't have my unvented ticket, what would be a good, reasonably priced vented water heater that i could use to replace existing cylinder and header?
