Hi
To all forum members,
What a great site, have been picking up lots of info and tips, which have help no end.
I have just one question what would you recommend or use to measure that the angles are spot on.
In the college work shop they have carpenter triangles etc but i dont get on with them. My brother has mentioned aline of chords which he thinks i will get on with better. I suffer with number blindness which is not a good thing in plumbing with all the maths etc, but i am really enjoying the course, though i am finding it difficult.
Any tips or advice would great.
Many thanks

Hi & welcome to the forum these angles you want to get spot on, would they be if you are bending tube for offsets & the like ???

Yes Chris it would, just cant seem to get it quite right, almost all of the men on the course are from building and contruction back ground and are finding it really easily and sometimes i feel like a total blonde. I think its not helping by having different tutors because they have their own way of doing stuff.
I do like a challenge and the course is very enjoyable. Never knew that plumbers had to learn all that stuff.
Any advice or tips would be great.
Many Thanks
Stacey

Some places use a steel folding rule & a 600mm long straight rule as both an angle finder & a straight edge, this is all just for college, when you are working on a bench not on site.
Which of the bends are you having problems with ?

No they havent Gavin, maybe because the course i am doing is part- time, i dont really know.
(After reading some of the posts here it seems the level 2 technical certificate is a waste of time.)

30 degrees is about ...........this much. 🙂

maybe get a folding rule and mark certain angles on it with tape or marker?

welcome to the forum.

A line of chords is a great idea Stanley UK - Line of Chords Scale

I have one, it is great for working out angle for offset etc.

transitiondividers.jpgyou will need a set of dividers too.

Stacey Rogers maybe? or maybe she likes ..... forget it.

Don't get to hung up about it, bending tube on a bench with the machine in a vice is a world apart from doing it on the customers carpet..... the tube bending. You'll soon figure it all out, and if you get your own set of tube benders you can mark some angles on them to get you going.

Giggity

Thank you guys for the warm welcome and for the advice and links etc. I will be checking out this out later.
Husband set up the account on the forum hence the user use.
