Evening I've got a job on at the moment and I'm not sure what they used to plumb with years ago but the size of the pipe is all to pop. I've gotta join into some old pipe and well the hot supply pipe is measuring 21mm externally what fitting can I use? I've tried soldering a 22mm fitting and well the solder just won't bridge the gap any ideas how I can get a fitting to connect that upto some proper 22mm copper

Cheers

Haha how new to the industry are ya
imperial pipe sir

you want to stock up on 3/4 to 22mm couplers.
1/2 to 15mm isnt too bad as you can solder onto it usually

End feeds should cost no more than 40p. (a green ring less)
Where are these "plumbers" coming from these days...........wait, i know............the 5k skool of plumbing where you do your real learning at the customers expense!

It was a yorkshie imperial fitting for a gas line under a floor that had compression fittings on it. Not only that I was out of my area and it was half 4. I had no option, no other merchant for miles.

3/4" is still used in Ireland. This is your job so learn it. Grab one of those mags from the merchants next time you are in and circle all the things that interest you on the card at the back and send it away.
You'll get a pile of stuff in from manu's. Read it then send for more.
Half this job is knowing what you can use where.

I cant remember ever finding 3/4 copper used for gas pipes, always barrel or metric.

Gas engineers down Sarf must have either being really strong or tight in the old days

Still loads of old size 3/4" gas pipe (Copper) & water supplies, you lot who are not coming across is must just be working on new build
