Free Boilers - Boiler For Life - Has Anyone Heard?

Erm... and the picture is that of a Ravenheat boiler. I'd like to see one of those last a life-time.

Went past Ravenheat Training centre in Leeds on Monday and there were about 6 ashadegreener boiler for life vans there.

work for them since november a good company that pays well and is focussed on quality and customer service they have a bit to learn yet but overall are in it for the long haul one of the best companies i have worked for in a lot of years

I see the Green deal a real threat as you have these advisers saying you can get a free boiler when in reality your paying for it off your electricity and gas bills for the next 15yrs

A shade greener have, from what I have heard, a very good reputation from solar. They are one of the only ones to have still been able to offer solar for free after the tariff cuts and maintained a good standard of work throughout so i heard. The boiler is apparently made for them exclusively so I should imagine they are getting them at an excellent price and as all the boilers are going to be the same, they'll know them inside out and have parts for them always in stock.

this could work, they are not new to this kind of deal so I am sure they've done their sums well. Not a deal for everyone I should imagine, but fair play for a different approach.

these are not a massive threat in the short term but in the longer term there will be more and more of these driving down the costs and becoming very very popular. Only time will tell if they will take over BG or BG will start offering a similar offer.

but more to the short term threat is the Powerflush they offer. why pay £300-500 for a powerflush when you can get a new boiler with powerflush included for £8 per month. to me a real short term threat.

And of course it will never completely take over as there are always the customers who prefer "the local guy" and have there own plumbers they have used for years.

£4,200 is a lot to pay for a ravenheat. BUT! £9 a week is not a lot to have heating and hot water. Most spend more on their mobile phone. It's a good marketing strategy.

For all those asking about Everlasting Boilers and whether or not it is a good deal, or a good boiler, or even a good service....

I have gone with this deal, and will be supplying my feedback very shortly regarding all over the above: The Boiler, The Overall Service, The Customer Service - and best of all The Quality of Tradesman who did the Installation.

I dont want to say too much now as things are still ongoing - so should know more in a few days and will feedback on all....

Their website states they charge £19 for the first three months then it goes up to £38 a month. Since a boiler can easily last 25 years plus, this means that you would pay £5,415 over the boilers lifetime. You could buy 8 Vaillant Ecotec's for that!

In contrast, you could get a free boiler on the governments ECO scheme through an approved provider and you would be £5415 better off from the start.

Even if you did not qualify for a free boiler, you might be able to get ECO financing for a boiler under the green deal, this means that the installation and boiler costs are reclaimed directly from your electricity bill and the repayments do not exceed the amount the average household will save through increased energy efficiency.

Even discounting the fact that there are deals like this available at the moment, the Everlasting boiler deal seems very expensive to me.

I don’t know if the Boiler for Life is good value or not, however it does include all maintenance on it. So you need to factor in the cost of a BG contact as well the cost of a boiler.

Personally I don’t like it, as the commitment may make it harder to sell a home.
