Im having difficulty coming up with a viable option to fill in the gap between the bathroom sink & the wall. The cap is about 2 in deep & 1 inch wide. The wall has wooden panels painted but the water from the sink spills over into the gap & is starting to make the wooden surround for the sink on that side rot. I have tried window putty & it is supposed to dry & be water repellent within 29 days but its been 3 months now & it's still very wet. So i have removed it & cleaned it all away.
So my question is, what can i use to fill in the cap that will allow me to shape it at the front of the sink as it bends away from the wall so i can blend it in to the wall & sink & be water repellent & allow me to paint over it + bond with the ceramic side of the sink.
I considered polycell filler but i don't want to find out after its dried it didn't bond & still leaks water.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
