Gas boiler installation

Hi,
I'm getting gas installed, currently have oil with back boiler link up.
I know the back boiler will be decommissioned but does it have to be physically removed or can it just be tied off at pipes.

So would I be correct in saying if it's left in place all that has to be done would be drain the back boiler and then drill a few 6mm holes in it, and that's job done.

Do you still want to use the fire or just leave it in place as a feature?
Always best to consult the maufacturer to see what they say.
