assuming the gas supplier did not move the meter i would guess they will come and cap the supply and want to put the meter outside in a box (and make somebody pay for it). you can them reroute the gas pipework externally or replace with steel fitting a aecv on the entry to the property.

it sounds like somebody wanted to avoid paying the supplier to move the meter so paid some idiot to bodge it.

Maybe so but there's a new card meter installed all prim and propper! Wouldn't you think the meter installer would have raised the issue with the custard? To be honest it doesn't look like a private re-position, why would a tenant do it? And the landlords tight as the back end of a duck and wouldn't pay for the tenants convenience! It looked legit but wrong... I've seen a good few similar ... If the install is legit then is this pipe the suppliers responsibility or the landlords? I sway towards the supplier but as said, am not 100% 🙂

i would think that if the supplier was asked to move the meter and alter the main then it would have been put outside, tends to be the standard practice with them now to meet the current regs.

meter fitters will swap meters in the same position even if its position does not meet the current standards unless its a safety risk. And many of them dont really know what they are looking at anyway tbh.

either way i would contact the supplier and leave it in there hands.

Where's a meter fitter when you need one????? 🙂 In the past up here in North it was common practice to relay the supply in this way. Distribution would put the main as close to the outside wall as they could and we had to relay the meter suply pipe from their ecv?? I did plenty when BG was the 'Northern Gas Board'...🙂 I may just give the supplier a call and quiz them on the scenario! End of the day any 'unmetered' gas surely belongs to the supplier regardless of it being controlled or not yeh?

Tell them there is a tee off it and see who's pipe it is:wink:

I've got my well used, 'DGI' head on (Don't Get Involved) Tamz 🙂 However I'm interested in what current regs say about an old 'ignore' scenario ? !! Like Distribution (shippers stuff) is their responsibility, and the rest is mine....🙂

When you've been at this game this long complacency sets in, however curiosity still keeps me alert I guess 🙂 !!!
