I am installing a glass wash basin in my bathroom.
Are there any special methods/materials I need to use when fitting the taps and waste ? I am concerned about overtightening and cracking the glass.

Also, someone told me to beware of 'Thermal Shock', and so I should use a rubber washer for the waste - not silicone.

Any helpwould be gratefully received.

My advice would be dont put a cupboard over the top of it for things to fall out of having seen one smashed into millions of bits by something falling from the cupboard

Had this last week, all it took was the customer to knock a bottle of perfume out of the bathroom cabinet for the basin to go pop (EVERYWHERE!!!) - wasn't a cheap basin either!!

Not trying to put you off, as they can look ace when done well... Ina nswer to your question, it really depends on the waste you have as to what washer / sealant you use (manufacturers instruction would be my advice, you're covered on the warranty that way!)

You may need a crystal clear sealant. I've used this stuff before and it's pretty good.

Thanks for the reply, will certainly check this one out. Just to give more information, It is a wall hung vanity unit with glass top, it is a Latium vanity unit which was bought from Bathrooms.Com. It is now on sale under a different name, it is now called Trezzini wallhung vanity unit, if anyone needs to check it out.

To reassure the other posters, there will be no cabinet above so no worry about anything dropping on the glass top!!.
Thanks for the replies, hopefully I have clarified what type of glass top it is, someone may be have either fitted one, or know someone who has, therefore let me know whats the best thing to use.

Thanks in advance.
