Heating not working

View the thread, titled "Heating not working" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi I have an oil burner which will not fire up unless I press the reset button on the thermostat this is the case every time I use heating,my thermostat has 2 probes which go into boiler to read temperature, anybody have advice on this is stat not allowing power tru to burner??

I assume you mean the manual reset overheat stat is what you're pressing?
If yes then yes the thermostats switch the live to the burner. If the overheat stat is tripping this could be a few things, whichever the cause I suggest you find a reputable engineer to have a look.
