Can anyone help please? I have been asked to look at why the rads don't heat up by a client and I think it's the pump thats the problem.
The boiler fires up ok the water gets hot but the heating does not.
The Boiler is a Sime Superior 50
it has 2 motorised zone valves, Pump and timer It's all quite old except for the motorised valves which I am told were recently replaced (in the last 2 years or so) the pump also looks to have been recently replaced.
The Boiler fires ok, the water in the tank is hot, the vaves move when switched on an off but the pump does not run.
The wiring althought a bit heath robinson appears ok (no loose wires in the block) I think the pump is faulty is there an easy way I can confirm this before replaceing it?

Sounds like a zone valve to me.

To isolate out your idea of the pump i would.
put a long screwdriver on the pump and put your ear against the driver and listen to what it is doing, you should be able to here the pump forcing water through. if not then there is problem there. you can also test the electrics of the pump with a multimeter to confirm it's blown.
The zone valve heads may have been replaced but the actual valve may be sticking, take off the zone valve head, and test the actual two port valve.

if this does not work its time to get a multimeter out and find the problem.

Zone valves are new and are working You can hear them ticking when you switch the system on or off.
I tried powering the pump direct, nothing. so I guess it is the pump.
I now have another problem. the isolating valves either side do not shut off properly so I think I will have to get into the loft to shut of the feed. A seemingly simple job turns into a nightmare.:6:

I have had a bad experience with a freeze kit.
Ice plug popped and I got soaked. never again:dead:

All fixed and working. Thanks for the input. It was the pump. New pump and isolating valves fitted all good. Cheers
