Rodolphe
Hi all.
Having already posted and even somewhat bantered with some of you, I feel I approached this the wrong way and should have posted here first.
My name really is Rodolphe. I am French, though have been living in SE London for about 15 years now. I'm married, 2 kids, a mortgage... looks like I'm chained to the country now and unlikely to go back to France any time soon.
I am dangerously close to 40 years old and have been working in recruitment almost since I arrived in the UK. Towards the end I hated it so much (I was working for the banking industry (or is that banking with a 'w'?) that it started making me physically sick in the mornings. So a few months ago I decided to drop the whole office-rat-race and went onto one of those reviled fast-track plumbing courses.
(I am mulling a nice moaning post about the attitude of some forum members to fast-track plumbers, though I understand where they're coming from, but I'll keep that until I am better established here... suffice to say that, unfortunately, for some of us it was the only viable option. Nobody would give me the time of day when I looked at Apprenticeship).
So here I am, recently L2 qualified (and going), very aware that there's about two thousand millions things I still have to learn but very eager to do it. I have found this forum simply amazing since I first started to visit, both for the information inside and the friendly way it is shared by the members.
My ambition in life is not to let my children starve to death, and possibly one day retire in a wooden shed that's not entirely crumbling. I feel I stand a chance of succeeding 🙂
Looking forward to getting to know you all (well, perhaps not ALL, there's a lot of people here) over the coming weeks and months... and maybe even years.
