I live in a first floor flat and have a garden on the ground floor. Until recently I was able to attach a very long hose pipe to the cold tap on my bath in order to water my vegetables, but a new bath with mixer tap and shower were fitted and I have no idea how to fix a hose so that I can continue to water my veggies. Any ideas? Are there any connectors/adaptors which are suitable for connection with mixer tap? Would it be possible to fix the hose to the shower in someway? 😕 Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I can not have an outside tape. Thank you.

If you've space around a 15mm cold pipe (under kitchen sink or a cupboard) you could fit an outside tap. Otherwise (still using a 15mm cold pipe) you could tee off it and end with a washing machine valve, then take the end part of an outside tap and fit this. The outside tap would be my preferred option as other people could see what it's for and not turn it on by accident!

Either of above means you can push a hose pipe on (tighten with a jubilee clip) and pull off when finished.

Or raise the garden by 3-4 meters ... I suspect downstairs might not appreciate this one though ...

watering can?

Failing that ...

Buy a 15mm compresssion coupler. Take then nut off one end and screw into shower hose minus head. On other end fit small length of 15mm copper. Fit the hose to this and with a jubille clip on top. Then just undo and re-do the compression to shower hose connection by hand when needed. You'll need a pipe-slice to cut the pipe, some ptfe tape to wrap round the olive, a pair of adjustable grips / small water-pump pliers to tighten the copper connection, a scredriver to tighten jubilee clips and I'd recommend buying a bunch of shower hose washers while you're there because you'll be wearing them out faster.

Thank you so very very much. It all sounds easy thanks to your clear instructions. I shall let you know how I get on. Thanks again 🙂

My pressure testing gauge came with one of these.
