I live in a bungalow and due to height restrictions in the loft the intaller laid the tank on its side, many moons ago.

I was checking the insulation on the tank and noted that the stat was well ABOVE the horizontal centre line and set at 50C.

This expains why we sometimes run short of hot water when running a bath.

Suggestions on the proper place for the stat and the temperature setting.

Cheers

David

hot water cylinders should be set at 60 c. no point heating it up any further only to cool it down again to put your hands in it!bonus with a horizontal cylinder is you get better stratification. standard cylinders stats are located about a third of the way up
