Hot water and heating timer

Hi,

We have a conventional boiler (I think) and have the following schedule set:

- Hot water = 1 hr 20:30 - 21:30
- Central heating = 3 hours 17:30 - 20:30

Does it make more sense to have the hot water on at the same time as the central heating ? (cost/performance)

You have a conventional set up, combis produce hot water immediately . So your heating your gaff once a day for 3 hours . You must be super insulated or wear big coats in the morning . It does not matter at this level of usage what your timings are really . But yes if your hot water is still present all the other 23 hours per day carry on .....centrica will go bust but good luck to you . Rob Foster aka centralheatking

if that's how its always worked then stick with it.

the hot water unless it has a tap to reduce flow is a easy route so radiators might struggle when hot water is also on,
all depends how things are set up.

All depends, seen some boilers struggle with heating demand and hot water at same time. Cheaper to stagger the times than upgrade the boiler.
