Okay and thanks for your reply, you've just confirmed what I was already thinking, I can do most things so this will be a doddle really...1. If:
1a. You know what you are doing, AND
1b. You are confident working with mains voltages, THEN
2. Connect one wire from the motor to blue, and the other to brown (doesn't matter which way round) of a cable.
3. Mains plug on other end of cable.
4. Plug it into the mains.
If the motor turns you are OK, but check the little pinion on the end to make sure it isn't too worn.
