How Do I Test A Synchron Motor

View the thread, titled "How Do I Test A Synchron Motor" which is posted in Central Heating Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

1. If:
1a. You know what you are doing, AND
1b. You are confident working with mains voltages, THEN
2. Connect one wire from the motor to blue, and the other to brown (doesn't matter which way round) of a cable.
3. Mains plug on other end of cable.
4. Plug it into the mains.
If the motor turns you are OK, but check the little pinion on the end to make sure it isn't too worn.

Okay and thanks for your reply, you've just confirmed what I was already thinking, I can do most things so this will be a doddle really...
Thanks again!

Helped a friend out last Saturday - his heating had gone down, he said the MV was clicking, but he couldn't get the lever across to manual. He came and collected a used synchron motor from a Honeywell 2 port I had.

Messaged me later to say he was up and away - heating back on!
