Hi

I've just had to thaw some frozen blue and black mains pipe for a friend (32mm) and was wondering the best way to stop it happening again.

The blue pipe rises from the cellar and goes out to an outbuilding. In the outbuilding it runs in black pipe around the walls before going to a stop-tap.

I won't be able to get the blue pipe down to required depth as it comes out of the cellar at a silly angle and I can't lower its outlet from the cellar any more.

So, I want to insulate the blue 'underground' pipe and insulate the black pipe that goes around the outbuilding's walls.

Can anyone help me with the best insulation to use for these two situations?

Thanks

Leaky

I'm not 100% sure mate but I can't see why not - I just know its top notch stuff i've been using it to lag pipes and never had a call back for the same fault again.

Move to a warmer climate? Seriously. you will always have problems unless you can get the pipe deeper. Alternative, is to put heat tace with frost activated stat.
