hurdy

hi guys its hurdy, thought i would say hello. not been in the mood this week to talk.feeling a bit low,but to knock me through a hat just heard tonight that my mother has been diagnosed with lung canser, the good thing is that it is treatable,as it has been caught early,so say the doctors.we will have to wait and see.any way enough of the doom and gloom, life must go on ,hope you are all well, i will be in contact again soon ,have a good week,be safe out there. hurdy

Thats tough news Hurdy, but as you say - better that they catch it early while its treatable.

Best of luck to your mum.

Bad news at least it's treatable. Hope u all are ok and as said above look after her.

I can only agree with the chaps above mate, it SURE is treatable !!!. But you all have tough times ahead. Good luck.

These things are called life, I lost my mam to cancer last june she was only 61. all the best chap and chin up

Sorry for your news mate time for a group hug from all your mates here at the ukpf......best regards for the future Turnpin:smile5:

Stay strong for your mum mate
It's a horrible disease but if detected early hopefully can be treated
I've been in your shoes but my mum was diagnosed when nothing could be done

Just enjoy every day with your mum and I hope all is going to be great after treatment I wish your mum best of luck mate xx

Been through the big C with my dad. And all he wanted was for everyone to treat him as normal and to live his normal life. Stay strong and be supportive which I'm sure you will be!

If you need to sound off we are all here. But also Macmillan support the family not just the sufferer so if you have any questions pick up the phone to them even if it's something little they are there to help

Tomorrow, I'll be celebrating a Mother's Day I thought I'd never have.
Mum was informed in January of 2012 she had terminal lung cancer with a life expectancy of between four to 10 months.
The tumor was 9.4 in size, whatever that means, it was big.
She decided to take treatment in order to prolong her life for as long as she could.

The first treatments didn't appear to be helping at all.
On one occasion, she was found on the lounge floor after taking morphine, and then taking more morphine.Simply, the first dose sent her doolally, and she didn't realise she'd taken the first dosage.
It went from bad to worse: the cancer progressed for lungs, to liver , to lymph nodes.
She persisted with her treatment, and in October of last year was told to take a seat as they had some news for her.
The cancer had all but disappeared.
She's still taking treatment and touch-wood a good few years more left in her.
So take heart mate.

That's awesome. She hasn't started cooking blue meths has she?

Often worse on the family of the person that has cancer, especially for any of us blokes as we are generally not able to deal with the stress of it. I learned that about myself.
Look after your mum & make sure the doctors give her all possible help Hurdy.
Hopefully everything will work out better than your initial thoughts.
