Hi all, I'm looking at a straight combi boiler swap for a customer. Pressure drop calculations tell me that 5 burner cooker will be under gassed by about 25 - 30%.
I'll try to keep it short here...
Gas meter is on the front wall of the house, the 28mm gas pipe goes under the floor through the front room, dining room, whole length of the kitchen, under small area by the back door and finally through the length of the bathroom, where the boiler is.
I can only get to the pipe in the front room - floor boards. There's laminate floor in the dining room and concrete throughout the rest of the house with vinyl tiling. 22mm pipe pops out just by the boiler.
The large cooker is hooked up in 22 just under the boiler via the outside.
Ground surface at the side of the house is concrete throughout. The customer doesn't want a new pipe on the side of the house, there are 2 doors to go over.
I've explained the need to upgrade the gas pipe to the customer.
But, here's what I don't get, how British Gas has come in and given a quote for 25SI WB in the same spot without any gas pipe increase AND leaving the very 5 burner cooker under gassed by at least 25-30% !? Does BG knows something I don't know!? I really thought we are working to the same rules!?
What's your opinion on this one, please? Thanks.
