Hi I was called to have a look at an Ideal classic FF280 this afternoon.

There was power to the boiler as the fan was running (although the impellor was missing)

The spark generator (?) in the PCB is flashing

There was a light illuminated in the PCB.

No spark visible inside combustion chamber.

Spoke to Ideal and they said it's the PCB is faulty. Does that sound correct? I have my doubts but 1 has been ordered, looking for suggestions to possible faults if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks

As Blod said, check them 1st b4 unwrapping the pcb, also had the pilot assy fully of crap from the heat exchanger b4, not allowing the spark.

Check these 1st, if its them you might even get a rise from the boss :toetap05:

if its sparking at the board and not sparking at the burner there must be a break in the ignition lead check the conection on the generater take the lead out and try it to eartrh

I wouldn't rule out the pcb though, they do go occasionally. I had a different fault granted, but the pcb was the problem. You could take a lead with you to try as they cost a lot less than a board.
