Hi, I have an Ideal Icos bolier that exits out in to my back garden where we plan to erect a consevatory. My question is, can I simply add a 90degree conector where it exits the house and extend the flue up the wall and out the consevatory roof?

Regards

PW

what about extending out along the roof of the conservatory. This will be in the region of 3m

Hi

As a gas safe member I can tell you that you definatley can not extend the flue with a 90 degree elbow.

Only options are to move the boiler or re route existing flue through a side wall (if possible)

I have exactly the same wish with this boiler: to have a 90-degree elbow fitted, with extension, to take through a conservatory roof. I asked Ideal whether it's possible in principle: they said yes and directed me to their various flue adaptors / extensions (to be fitted by a professional, of course).

So conflicting advise...!

It is a fan flued boiler so there will be several options with the flue. These are subject to maximum lengths and normally adding an elbow is equal to a half meter in length. If terminating vertically you may be restricted more than you would horizontally. I don't know the answer to this as I have never fitted adeal icos boilers but it sounds feasible. If I was asked to do this I'd consult the manufaturer's instructions and advise accordingly. If you go vertically through the roof you will have to use a vertical flue terminal. It is a job for a gas safe registered installer and you are well advised to get someone to do this to ensure it is safe and in accordance with the manufaturer's instructions.

t: Many thanks. I'd never do the work myself (not qualified): I just wanted to know if it's feasible (I've paid the deposit on the conservatory, so it better be...!) From what you and Ideal say, it is. Conservatory people said that a vertical extension at the elbow would need to be 1-1.5 m to clear the roof.

hello. i now have the same problem and wondered how you resolved it.
many thanks stacey x

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
