Ideal Isar HE24 problem

Hi

I am gas safe registered but I mainly deal with installations and only slightly delve into the fault finding/ diagnostic field. Ive had a problem with my ideal Isar he24 combi boiler, (boiler was already in the house when we moved in 6 months ago) It was showing a fault code of flashing f-l which after much searching I narrowed down to a blocked condensate trap (a common problem judging by these forums) basically when I removed the trap the sump was full of water and once removed I realised the trap was completely blocked. I have replaced the trap and there is a nice flow through from the sump to the condensate now. All I am asking now is the boiler seems to be slightly hotter than I would usually of thought it should be with the pump very hot to touch, basically scalding and there is absolutely no condensate in the sump now once it has been running for a while, but overall the boiler seems to be working fine. I just want to ask is the sump meant to be bone dry? Like I said all seems to be working fine, and when I turned the boiler off last night it was completely cool this morning, All I was thinking is, is it overheating or does this sound ok? Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for the help.

In my opinion a horrible boiler, dry sump would suggest its not condensing, I'm installation mainly too but sounds like theres a problem somewhere am sure a more experienced service bod will know

It will only produce liquid when it condensing if its running good thats a result with these heaps

Thanks, what about the pump? Just judging by experience it seems very hot, but then again it's no hotter than the pipe work around the house, I can't touch either for any longer than a second or two. Yes not the best boiler, like I said was in when we moved in 6 months ago and I've already had to replace pcb. Thanks

Also the pressure is going up from 1bar to 2bar but not rising above that. Obviously I know pressure can go up when boiler is heating/hot. Like I say everything seems fine, just wanting to clarify before I start using it properly. Just been testing it for few hours at a time last day or so.

Do full service, check insulation panels and pins, change any dodgy electrodes, flush some water through the main hex/ sump clean out trap, commission. Pump will get hot in normal use as long as heat is leaving the boiler correctly it's should be fine.

Check expansion vessel charge for the pressure rise concern

Oh and start saving for a new boiler
