Only having a look, casing off only, just curious, don't intend to try and fix it.

Warranty has never been registered as far as I'm aware, i'm hoping 2 years is 2 years irrespective

Why do i get the impression you have tried to tamper with it , seems to be an excuse not to get an engineer out for some reason, if its under warranty contact ideal if not and your a diy'er then i would suggest hands in pockets .

No idea why you get that impression, case was removed only to see how much water was floating around inside and see if I could switch off a water supply to stop the leak.*

My queries about warranty were in case Ideal try and say it's not covered or similar, I was hoping someone might say "Ideal are pretty good and will cover it under warranty no probs or similar" I guess I'll have to wait and see for myself. Experience has told me that some companies will try and wriggle out of obligations if they can so just wanted to be prepared for this when I ring.

Ideal are very good at honouring their warranty. Unless they can tell that the boiler has been tampered with. So I'd get that case back on a bit rapid before you call them out!

Case was back on before I went to bed.

50ml of water leaked overnight

And so it starts, Ideal send me to Carillion who say I'm not covered by them because I'm not the original customer and the warranty is with Ideal not them....

That sounds about right, mess you about until you give up and go away.
If they did send an engineer out the diagnosis would indicate an installation defect which would void the warranty anyway.

understood that warranty is with boiler Not customer ! has it had a service ? get back on to Ideal and tell them its their warranty and you want the boiler repaired ! Take it that it was installed by a GSR engineer ? check out their name with Gas Safe. If not then No warranty on boiler, looking at photo do`s not look like prv,

All repaired under warranty now after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing between installer and manufacturer.

Faulty seal/washer somewhere internally, had been slowly leaking for some time as scale inside case but with boiler on it was drying the water out. It was only when heating was off in the recent weather therefore that the leak came to light.
