Hi all. Please bear with me, im new to this. Ive recently moved into new (rented) accomodation. Ive got a Ideal Logic Combi 35 (not +) boiler installed. Theres also a Drayton LP711 external timer fitted in the kitchen along with an external room thermostat fitted in the living room which is also Drayton. Now this maybe a stupid question to ask, but does the boiler have to be at a certain setting for the timer to work? When the timer in the kitchen is set to 'off', and i switch the boiler setting to winter mode, the heating comes on straight away. This should happen should it? Not untill I set the timer to 'ON' or the timer kicks in? Ive tried every way I can think of it still doesnt seem to work. I need to know if its just me or there is something wrong with the boiler/timer, especially in this weather now. Any help would be much appreiciated.

Many thanks

You sure the heating is coming on when the timer is off? Are the radiators getting warm? If so you need someone to look at it.

Hi. Yep, the radiators are definatley warm. As soon as i swith the boiler to winter mode, the heating comes on regards of what the timer is on. I thought the boiler might have had to be on certain settings for the timer to operate. When i do switch the timer on, the relay in the thermostat clicks when i operate it, but again, this doesnt seem to make any difference.

dpw86 it sounds like it hasn't been wired correctly or they're remnants from a previous boiler still somehow wired up? Either way you need to get your landlord to sort it out 🙂 By-the-way, check to see if this still ocurs with the hot water pre-heat off?

A shame they didn't use the logic built in programable stat. Easy to fit and easy to work.
