What on earth re these boilers doing on the market

Customer supplies boiler

I arrived at 8 this morning to do what i thought was a very easy boiler change.

We powerflushed system and got on with the job.

Boiler wired correctly

Turn boiler on........................................... NOTHING!

Power to boiler, followed lighting procedure>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NOTHING

Boiler is completely lifeless.

Worked through fault finding diagram and it points to pcb!

Never ever will i fit this boiler again
Got home at 8 oclock this evening feeling defeated

I am on the phone to ideal first thing and will be invoicing them for my re visit to commision boiler

Where do i stand with invoicing them as customer is even more pee d off at havin no heat or hot water?

Why isn't the customer paying for your revisit if they supplied the boiler? Where did they get it? Internet bargain? Fitted in excess of 80 logic+ boilers and not had an issue.

this is the first i have fitted, is it straight forward when switching boiler on? power to boiler, nothing on display or any lights>>>>> swapped fuse........... no go!

customer will be getting billed for my re visit but he wants to invoice ideal, he got it through a friend that works for a merchant, all legit,

Was it a logic or a logic+? Why don't you just phone ideal and get them straight out?

Not had a problem in the past mate. Comes with the 3 core. Power it up and away it goes. I'd be interested to know the outcome.

I thought exactly the same, not a beat in the old girl!!!!!!!

I will keep you posted mate

you have proven 240v at the connectors and have checked for reverse polarity ?

You won't have a leg if you try invoicing them. If you bought it you could have invoiced the merchant who wouyld have gotten it back from ideal. As it is you will have to invoice the customer who will have to try to get it back from his supplier who will have to get it from ideal.
Another reason i won't fit what i don't supply.

Agree with Mark. Have you checked all connections and polarity. Sometimes these things are easy overlooked.

I fitted tons of logics under warmfront and although I can't say anything about the longevity of the boiler as we never went back I never had one DOA.

Mind you in 4 years of fitting 2 0r 3 Isars and Icosses a week I only had 2 DOA so that doesn't say a lot.

Charge the customer for your time. Thats why I always insist on supplying the boilers I fit and put a mark up on the price I pay incase of situations like these. If they supplied it and it doesnt work, you shouldnt be out of pocket for it.

Thanks for the response guys, I returned to the boiler this morning and did the electrical checks, It turned out to be the neutral in the choc block inside the boiler did not have a tip on it, therefore the wire was covered with the plastic sheath and was unable to make contact,

The ideal technical guy was spot on (obviously happened before)

A little bit more experience in the book!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep it in mind guys when installing these!

I am not a fan of them crimped cable ends
But I have fitted 100s of logics with no real bother at all
