Where function was the only thing of importance. Form not so.

So how things look is irrelevant. And where lack of probs, maintenance, fittings were the goal. What kind of things would you do differently?

Obviously all surface pipe work for a start. You could probably get away with almost no fittings, just mahcined bends round corners taking shortest route. I'm also thinking 22mm lever valves instead of taps with a downturned elbow coming out - because they'd be essentially maintanance free. Sinks/basins could be joined to their traps and waste run in one solid piece of metal with no joins - so nothing to leak. The waste runs would be short because the appliances would all be next to each other and on a wall where the drain is just outside.

Might have phrased it wrongly in saying the only thing that matters if function because part of function is convenience etc...What I meant was I was just daydreaming and imaginging if you were tasked to plumb in a house where the only goal was how long it could exist without any work needing to be done on any parts. That kind of function. What would a virtually service/maintenance free plumbing system look like?

I wouldnt use the 1/4 turn valves due to possible problems in future with glands. Would use stop valves with a seating and washer so that they could be maintained if they were to develop a leak

All old fashioned taps/valves/especially toilets! No push button flush in this house!

I'd just tell people to wash in the rain and :001_9898: in the garden.

We'd all be out of work in a week though so probably not a good idea:stooge_curly:

Size the pipes and heating apparatus in order to get the bath filled a few minuets with hot water.
