Hi, I want to introduce myself to the forum. My name is Martin and I am currently taking time out from my existing job as an offshore scaffolder to learn my new trade as a plumber. Since last November I have been enrolled on the BTSC 'Fast Track' plumbing course and I have now got to the stage of completing Level 2 and 3. I am booked in to complete my 'Water Regs' and 'un-vented' certificates in October and the final 'ACS' exam to follow.
As everybody involved with a new apprentiship in plumbing knows, to find work and getting your foot on the ladder is extremely difficult and can seem like there is no or little hope of gaining experience after shelling out a substantial amount of money for a career that is difficult to start. It is frustrating to say the least!!
I have been around the contruction industry for many years and I have gained valuable experience i.e. health and safety, manual handling and loads of common sense.
Is there anybody out there that is willing to help a keen and self motivated trainee plumber who will work voluntary. I have my own transport (van) and tools and will work and travel in the Northwest. 😀
