Just preordered mine £599 from apple store 32GB unlocked to all networks

Anyone else getting one?

Thought ill pay upfront since all the carriers are wanting to tie u in a 24month contract which works out at £1224 altogether..

I must be getting old mate because I'd never pay 600 notes for a phone! I can almost hear my old man in my head now! "600 notes just to make a few calls are you mad boy?!"

Not a fan of apple really, too restrictive marketing for my liking.

Got a 3GS at mo and getting a Samsung as well shortly.

It hurts less on contract, and don't forget to add sim rental.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the iPhone 4s and the iPhone 5?
My mrs wants one and I need intelligent reasons why not rather than my usual coz I said so response!

A bigger screen that's it's , I was due for upgrade in June . I'm on the ready list for first come

Had a quick look and it does not accept a micro sim card, what ever that is?

New model uses a Nano-Sim, that clearly makes sense, not sure what network will be able/want to supply one though :iamwithstupid:.

I've got a £10 phone from asda, dropped it dozens of times and it's still going. I'd never spend that money on something that'll be obsolete in a year.

Apple know exactly how the extract every last penny from their customers, I hate the way they hold back their technology and drip feed it to bleed you dry.

Not a fan of Apple.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1347650539.183191.jpg

Ive tryed andoid phones and just cant use them, think im too used to how apple smartphones work

My iphone 5 is going to be on giffgaff :

£10 per month
- unlimited internet
- unlimited texts
- 250 minutes

giffgaff is a network provider but just sim cards( i think) same network (ariels etc) as o2

I have an iphone 4. Yes it's good, but I'm not in a mad rush to upgrade. We've come to a point where smart phones can't do much more.

Take photos.
Check email.
Sat Nav.
Music player.
Apps.
and occasionaly make phone calls.

My phone does all that. What else is there??

Right there danny!!
Im only upgrading because ive had a crap 3 months so treating myself plus my birthday next week, selling alot of business stuff inc my business phone and got a iphone 4 im selling so really only paying around £200 after i sell my business and personal phone lol

Giffgaff is a carrier that uses o2's network. Its the cheapest around, you use it pay as you go, plus on how much you spend you get cashback to use
Also they have a app if you ever need them, so instead of phoning say orange and on hold for 20mins, you send a message to a 'agent' and they get back to you with the solution

I know quite a few members who use giffgaff. Ive been on the £10 plan for 8 months now and that gives me 250 mins, unlimited texts and internet. You can upgrade to say £30 a month that gives you say 1k mins, unlimited texts and internet. If you want to downgrade next month or upgrade on how much your spending you can easily change it. Fully flexible.

Only bad content its hard to get the 'adult' settings moved over hahaa!! Only can bypass it if you use your WIFI

Fair enough mate. It's your dosh. I just can't bring myself to spend that sort of cash.

I have two phones. A cheap samsung pay as you go on 02 and my iPhone 4 on Orange, so I can always be contacted.

Apparently only drug dealer carry two phones (so I've been told) perhaps I could do a fast track course and become one of them.

There we go....a new forum for Dan....UKdrugdealers forum. We can swap tips on rolling the best spliffs and what colour BMW to drive.

(Black, with blacked out windows and Black alloy wheels).

Lol dan, dreams mate, i wish for a bmw/audi, unfortunately i dont have that much money 🙁 things we can only dream of ! Ill just stick to my gadgets lol

Don't do it Koogatubac!, next year they will release a new model (iphone 5s or whatever) which will see your £600 gizmo in the bargin bin/yesterdays technogy.

They'll already have the iphone 6 in storage until they've milked number 5 to death.

Some people are so gullible!

What's the difference between the 4s and 5?

Slightly faster
A bit Thinner
Better Camera
A little bigger

These and other features are what other smartphones have had for years, Apple is just simply catching up with this new release. There is nothing new, nothing innovative, nothing unique.

Why pay a premium price for something that is so inferior.

Its like paying a high price for them Lamborghini boilers, with the interchangeable cases, which are just basic Ferrolis, when there are better boilers out there for a lower price.

Good Luck with that, you'll be waiting months.

Apple have decided to us Nano sims, in these phones, which are even smaller than micro sims. You can't adapt a normal sim to work like you could with the micro ones.

You have to get a new one.

GiffGaff have said that it could take them a few months before they can sort them out.

And another thing Apple have changed, to make you spend more money, the connector. Now you'll have to pay them more by buying all new accessories because they've decided to change the design.

One the one hand you've got all the other phone manufacturers uniting to bring a universal connector/charger to reduce waste and help the enviroment, then there's Apple on the other side refusing to co-operate/join in because they want as much out of you as they can.

Apple,s not for everyone, but youll never get a virus on it..

I read somewhere that that is not true any more. Some one has released an apple virus. Apparently it gives the owner of the device an inexplicable urge to keep wasting money on the latest gadgets.

Apple are wringing the neck out of their customer base. They could have easily squeezed in near field technology and a better camera but they're saving that for the next one. I'm disappointed with Apple in this respect.

Oh yes, were definitely being rinsed. But personally wouldnt use any thing else. I dont buy the latest products theyre to expensive. Im writing this on my daughters windows lap top and having to spell and do the grammer all on my own, and i dont like it.

I always stay one step behind, the 4 comes out, I buy the 3, the 5 comes out, I buy the 4 and so on. Much more affordable.

Buy an iMac
iPhone
iPad

There you have everything that will be trouble free for years to come - like everything technology advances- iPhone have had the same charger/connectors since the iPod come out - and they get slagged fur changing it.....

Most apple users have been asking for a smaller connection because of dust getting in etc.

Ah well.

I'm pro apple 😀

There's one thing at £599 an iphone5 can't do.......core drill a big hole in a wall.

For five hundred and ninety nine spondoolies, I'd rather talk to a Hilti.

Talking to a Hilti might hurt your ear a bit though - then again so does talking to the misses!

They've changed the charger connection on the latest iPhone. Which renders all old devices useless unless you buy an adapter. Even then, some devices won't work.

So that's thrown the spanner in the works for that arguement!!

I cant see the point of spending £599 on a phone but then I do tend to break them within a couple of months

Blackberry dropped when I was drunk cracked the screen 6 weeks old
2nd Blackberry dropped from about 2 feet shattered the screen 2months old
Works Sony fell out of my pocket climbing up into a roof space broke into 5 pieces and screen in a million pieces.
Iphone 3GS dropped whilst getting something out of the van cracked the screen 3 days old still working though only another 10 months left on contract.
Works Nokia had for about 2.5 months not damaged it yet but it will happen.

I have also washed 1 in a washing machine gone kayaking with 1 in my shorts pocket took a swim then noticed it and dropped 1 in a bucket full of water.

So to me £300 a month seems rather expensive. But at least when my contract runs out the 4 will be cheaper.

Honestly, I don't think the phones are a fault here. You need one of those builders phones they previewed on the gadget show. There like an unbreakable water proof brick.

JCB Sitemaster. Left mine on the roof of the van and drove home, got a call the next that they found my phone in the middle of the road. Scuffed on the corner but sound as a pound. No camera, no internet but it makes calls, texts, time, torch, alarm and a radio. I have a galaxy note for all the bling things which is wrapped in a £10 rubber cover and a screen protector and lives in the van when I'm working.

Either that or just some super glue so it cant leave my hand.

Think I'll print that off ready 🙂
Don't you dare show her that......or I'm like that bloke in the movie "Green Mile".....

Dead Man Walking, Dead Man Walking.....

*P.S No edit button in the Arms and I nearly substituted the "L" for a "N" there while typing walking. Relief is washing through!

My late brother-in-law had one of those, he was forever dropping his phone etc so we got him one of those ones, 3 weeks later he was back at the shop looking for another phone, the assistant looked amazed when he said he needed another one as his had been blown up. (He later explained he worked as a shot firer and looking down a drill hole his phone fell down it, never to be seen again.... until it was blasted into next week.)
