Morning all,

I have a 110v transformer that has finally packed up. A mate of mine told me these are full of copper and that if I took it down the scrap metal place where I go and sold it as brazing copper I could get a few quid.

Is this brazing copper or something different?

Cheers

You may get a tenner for it. It's copper windings (high quality copper) but is normally coated with compound which takes work to remove.

Yeh they call it brazery cause its not just clean copper depending where you take it , its roughly half the price of clean cu

Will be classed the same as scrap electric motors and transformers. Your scrappy will have a set rate for them.

Unfortunately for you, 1/2 the weight of a transformer is the laminated iron core, but still worth weighing in.

Anyway you all will be pleased to know all your house hold recycling is keeping the council yard lads in beer,as in front of me was some council workers with sacks of aluminum cans !!!
