This morning when my boiler started it suddenly started leaking hot water and the rcd tripped my house electrics. Upon investigation I found soon I restarted the boiler it restarted leaking from in between the 3-way valve and its cartridge up the top.

I have not come across this before. I am thinking what to change here the cartridge or the valve assembly or is there a cheaper alternative of re-sealing With O ring and silicon etc. Any advice appreciated

If its leaking a componants will probably need replacing, always replace it with a genuine part/gasket/o ring rather that hodge it up with silicone.

Thats what I'll do when the parts available, which is on Tuesday but in the mean time just a thought especially when its cold

The leak will be on the shaft seal lower down in the valve.
There shouldn't be water just under the motor

If youve got a decent o ring selection box and your desperate why not lift out the valve assembley and strip out the faulty o ring and replace it for now, youll need a new valve assembly in the long run as its probably clogged up but youll have a chance for some heating in the mean time

o ring is pressed into the bush if its a HEA you can buy a refurb section,IF ITS A he YOU NEED A NEW DIVERTER

its fun having a fiddle and living in hope, sometimes you get lucky and get things going until the new bits turn up, normally only bother to do it for old cold folk

Thanks to all of you folks, took the valve out and its one solid peace with no place for any o ring. It has just a spring loaded push rod for the micro switch.. great. Must be inside the damn thing so back to waiting game for a new valve.

did you ask for a replacement just for that model? im pretty sure most of ideals divertors are the same ie mini c28, logics etc even vokeras use that motor so the valve top(not the internals) would maybe be the same?? i would of taken the seal down to partscentre and compared them

Good morning everyone and a Happy Easter. Got the valve assembly at one of the PTS stores and changed it. Now there is water dripping (slowly) from the back of the pressure gauge. Anyone come across this before and importantly any solution or do I really need to wait till Tuesday for some more spares. Many thanks to all again.
