so far this week i have lost a pipe slice, a large pot of flux 3/4 full, a stanley knife and spare blades
and 1 of my tape measures.

this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

I always put a tool down near my knee or somewhere obvious then can't see the blasted thing and spend 10 minutes looking for it.

I am thinking of attaching bungees to all of my tools then attaching them to my belt, that should do it!

I lost a great 8mm hammer through screwdriver that I use almost every day the other week. A great bit of kit that has put with some abuse. I am usually quite careful.
To make maters worse it appears to have been discontinued and the replacement I have is a piece of rubbish.

I nearlly lost my rag today and smashed up the place, had to call it a day and go back finish it on monday with a clear head probably take me 20 mins, after messing around for about 2 hours today!! but I lose things all the time, its murder.

I'm always losing my pipe slices and grips, worst thing I keep doing is using my phones light as a torch when I'm repairing leaks under baths, then refitting and sealing the bath panel with my phone still under the bath and only realising when I'm back in the van, done it loads, I will never learn

Always lose stuff, or is it just can't find it. But what I do 'find' is that when I can't find something and then a bit later on when I've lost something else I find what I lost earlier.

Have had a run on 4mm t bar allen keys. Not as bad as losing my bahco wide jaw spanner in the snow, devastated.

I keep putting stuff down and forgetting where I put it.......I keep crapping myself thinking alzheimers is just around the corner....I'm glad its not just me its happening to....unless we're all falling into the " I've forgot my underpants and my address" club!

Loosing tools really does get on my rag ! Remember a couple of years ago i lost my diary, that was a big problem. I think i put it on the roof of my van while loading tools in, then drove off !!

I forget things on the way out! On Friday I forgot to stick my drill in the van - luckily I didn't need it!

Forever leaving bits and pieces though!!!

Once lost me Estwing claw hammer, totally gutted, bought another coz i'm a bit of an anorak with tools, dont like cheap stuff. I think it was about 4 weeks later when i went back to a job to hang some rads and found the bloody thing, gutted.....again.

lost a pipeslice in a customers kitchen - went back 4 years later to fit garden tap and found it down back of kitchen cupboard

I keep one of those super powerful neodymium magnets in the van for fishing out tools from just such places, saved me a few quid having to replace stuff.

I had a particular love slave who had a penchant for losing my tools, mainly because I threw them at him a lot. It got to the stage that I'd only have to walk past him in the yard of a morning and I'd lose something.

And tool blindness. Every. Single. Job.

I lose torches all the time. I have gone through about 10 in the last 6 months. I seem to put them down and just not register them being a tool when it come to clearing up. Its really odd, I rarely lose anything else but torches just go missing.

I've done a few stupid things, put Makita 18v drill on the roof of my van. Drove about 5 miles home through town got home and seen my bloody drill on top of the van hooked on the roof rack. Thankfully it stayed there, would have been £300 down the pan!

Dropped my bacho spanner down a service duct, was on the phone whilst tightening up some stop taps and I dropped the bloody thing luckily it hooked onto the edge of the spanner, I put my phone down went to grab it and then they dropped right down inside the duct :32:. So I thought right I'll reach down and grab it, looked like it went down about 3 miles. So the next day I grabbed some monster magnets and taped it to some lengths of 15mm hep. Still no bloody lucky! The spanner was about 2 weeks old! :90:

Also I have left my bacho grips under a shower tray, only until the next day that I needed them and realising where I left them. I had to go back to the customers house and ask to take the shower plinths off again and reseal! What a idiot...

Good idea to put some cord/string thru hole at end of spanner and tie off when using and if you drop it you can haul it back out with the string/cord!!!! I know it takes longer to do but you don't waste time or a tool after!!!!

I always make sure I put something in the hole now, if your going to drop something its always going to find that stupid gap/hole to go into. Its like when you drop that screw from the bottom of a electric shower, you can guarantee that if you hadn't stuck the plug in it would have sunk to the bottom of the trap!

i recently bought a right posh fat max stanley knife the first time i changed the blade the blade carrier slip out of my and and dissapear down a duct guttedive now got another one from a pounds shop

Just lost my Estwing today. I've had it for 25 years.
Working in a loft that was knee deep in bloody fibreglass and i had half the loft pulled back. Tidy up time and my hammer was missing. Searched everywhere then looked up the loft and though. Fk it! I'm not pulling all that back again!
So it is down to the hammer shop in the morning for a new one.

I am glad its just not me working in a bank holiday

Brought a screwdriver set from screwfix, the other month, lost one already, I am thinking buy another set get the screwdriver I need and get someone to return it as a unwanted gift. 🙂

I have 2 sets of pipe cutters, 2 tape measures and 2 pencils. Always putting things down then forgetting where they are but with two of them, usually I find one quickly. If I lose something I tidy up until I find it.

Everything has it's home in my toolbox so at end of day I check the toolbox to make sure it's all there.

Very relieved to hear of others mislaying their tools - thought it was just me.

Chap I work with says to me all the time, "Look with your eyes and not your mouth!" Must bore him rigid when I ask, "Have you seen my ...?"

Great tip with the string - often wondered what the hole in the end of a spanner was for!

on the plus side, my large pot of flux has turned up and i found a rotten bugger pipe slice which is good as new after having a new cutter blade in, but sadly i've now lost my new pot of jetblue plus and my toolbox saw.

i've lost more tackle this last 2 weeks alone than in the last 3 years, think i'm losing the plot
