I have a Vaillant WH 95 low loss header to install. It can be turned 90 degrees to the horizontal position. Which tappings are used for flow and return from the boiler and from the system. Would the top two connection come from the boiler and the bottom two from the system or vice versa or does it not matter?

It's the connections on each side that are important does not matter if it is top or bottom just that the flow & returns are on the same side.
So if it is to be installed in the horizontal so connections come off top & bottom the F&R to /from boiler/s are either top or bottom & the system is the opposite side. It is better if you can keep it in the vertical though because it works great as an air separator (a.a.v in top) & a dirt collector (drain off in the bottom).

Have you got 1 or 2 boilers ??

Cheers Chris. There's one boiler. Vaillant told rep told us it can be mounted vertical or horizontal but forgot to tell us tappings to use for horizontal. We will try to get it in. vertical which will be better.

Photos please when competed !!! If you can vertical, with boiler cons on either the left or right but system F & R on the opposite side.
I still thing you are better with a copper header & cos of the MI & other fittings its often cheaper with a copper one !!

As said above vertical is much better as it helps to keep boiler pretty. If it's got to be horizontal bring system in the bottom and instead of elbows on to vertical fit 150mm of tube out of downward facing tee with doc and on the vertical extend the flow above boiler with an AAV.

as above if your stuck with what you've got. If in future you need lowloss headers just spec what size header you need and what tappins and where, find a decent welder after youve given him a few pipe offcuts, sorted, headers for life.
