  • Goodreader for appliance manual PDFs
  • Pages for word processing
  • Numbers for spreadsheets
  • Dropbox for syncing docs between computer & iPad
  • Noteshelf with a Griffin stylus for taking handwritten notes. Find it quite useful in sketching layouts for system design.
  • Evernote for note syncing between iPad and computer. Great for categorising all those tips and tricks you learn and promise yourself you'll never forget.
  • Honeywell wiring guide

AP welcome to the world of iPad!. Agree with CMairD, I use Pages for bigger quotes, I have a few standard quotes which I adapt for each job, often email them to the customer before I leave. Noteshelf is also great for doing the first draft plan for a bathroom or kitchen. If your precious IPad is going to work with you I would suggest an Otterbox case, it protects it from knocks and dust. For business use tryInvoice to GO HD, it is a brilliant app that does all of your quotes and invoices. Once you have got customer details in your contacts book, it creates and emails a PDF invoice to their email inbox and copies it to yours. The HD version also produces sales reports and graphs, tracks unpaid invoices etc. They have just introduced some in app purchases to integrate diaries and maps with invoices (I have not tried them yet). I find I also use the iPad to check prices online before going into the merchants. With Screwfix, I will sometimes check stock and order from the local branch, by time I get there I can go straight to the collection counter and avoid the queue! Like most Apple users, I could go on about Mac stuff for hours, so I will leave it there and let you get on with enjoying your iPad.

You got me fuzzy,I googled it,was not sure what a archos 101 was but seems to have good reviews and covers everything we would probable use a tablet for,the only negative thing mentioned really is the screen visibility if not at the correct angle, but defiantly worth a look,I still use my notebook and t mobile dongle for out and about, that and me iphone does me, but am hovering

yeh puddle for the money 150 its pretty good. i want to put some dvds on it for our holiday to florida, keep me entertained on the flights
