Hi

Mum got a gas oven. The hob part works.

You need to twist the knob & turn to get gas & then push another button to ignite.

It all work but when the first temperature knob is released the gas stops & oven goes out. Ignition button is ok.

British Gas want £100 call out!!

Any ideas?

No Sunday roast for her & she's 82.

Cheers

Thermocouple....

Fairly easy to change ... don't have to do anything with the gas supply.
It will be the probe that sits in the flame when the pilot light is ignited and screws into the back of the gas valve - sends a milli volt signal to gas valve when flame is ignited ( when working)

It could well be that and it could also be a blocked bypass.
Get a competent engineer to investigate and repair.
