Hello Plumbers i need a bit of info .. i am not a plumber i am a builder and i had my plumber install a new boiler in an extension that i built three years ago ( vaillant eco tec plus 827 i think from memory ) it is approx 12 meters from meter with at least 4 90 bends and a cooker and gas hob on the run he piped it with 22mm all the way to boiler with 15mm spurs off to cooker and hob .....now heres the prob 3 years later customer has prob with boiler that has now obviosly run out of warranty but he has covered with british gas ( please stay with me 🙄) gas comes out and says that he is only getting 14 gas pressure when he should be getting 17-22 at boiler so he rings plumber through me and it goes like this cstmr " my boiler is not getting enough gas to it " my plmbr " are you f**king oking it was over three years ago not my prob " so he now refuses to go back !!! cstmr doesnt want him back !!! and stuck in the middle !!! so does the boiler need bigger pipe supply or is set up as described adequate ???? or could it be blockage ????? ps gas board checked governor and all ok at meter . any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

if you can prove the pipework is undersized then it will be classed as a latent defect and the plumber should be made to correct his work, this will be hard to prove unless you can get detailed pipe route details, like size, lengths, fittings, and appliance outputs.

Hello AWheating it was all run in 22mm pipe and they were all 3mtr lengths were we could use full lengths and there were approx 4 90degree elbows and two tees one for cooker and one for hob i think as for appliance outputs i cant remember but it was standard size hob and standard size 600mm oven what is your gut feeling on this based on this info ( my plumber is a little bit tempremental to say the least and is not in good place at mo ) thanks Darren

Hello Water Tight that was one my first thoughts because presumably this had'nt showed up on any previous services on the boiler

i cant get up and check my workbook i use for pipesizing at the moment as am recovering from an operation, going on a guess i would have said that he may have needed 28mm pipeweork. you cant prove this tho without the correct figures. Every full gas carcus i do now which has a combi in normally has 28mm in it.

like others have said, if the boilers has been serviced before it would have showed up .
