Thermal store question/query please

Hi, I am getting my old hot water cylinder tank replaced (my property has no boiler as it is a full electric property). My plumber suggested changing to a thermal store. He is a competent plumber but are there any certificates that I need to ask for, is this notifiable work and would you recommend a thermal store as a good options for a flat in london? Thank you!

It wouldn't be my choice electric heating is the most expensive form of heating up to three times more than gas but your probably not connected to a network fossil fuels are being blamed partly for global warming, the problem with a thermal store is it needs to permanently be kept at 60° c or above so your using power when it's not really needed especially in the summer months it will be expensive to run your choices are limited, and it really depends on your power supply I'd be get a electrician to survey your property for other options and committing to anything. Thank you for your advice 🙂. It’s a full electric property in a flat with not so great water pressure which is why I think they suggested that option. I agree about the costs being far greater! Bit of a silly question but can it not simply be turned off periodically when not in use? Thank you

I'd say modern panel heaters , electric shower and a small unvented water heater for kitchen and bathroom basin? Your only heating the water you use and have control over each heater , just check your supply and wiring will support it ? . Kop

I have electric heaters and shower which is great so the unvented system is a good way to go for the kitchen and bathroom. Thanks so much for your advice. What are the benefits of unvented vs thermal?

Lower running costs for one ,size it for the amount of water you use and it's quite economical water pressure will need checking but you have a electric shower so can't see a problem .
